How did I get here?

Delray Beach, Florida

On the morning of January 1st 2020, I woke up after a long night of DJing, and little did I know, it marked the end of my era of bringing in the New Year on stage, spinning tunes for eager partiers. The backdrop? A looming pandemic, subtly brewing in the background. The world was changing, and so was I.

I trace my evolution to someone frequently holding a camera back to my teenage years, where my journey began with the discovery of DJing. I vividly recall visiting DJ Break's house, marveling at his turntables and mixer setup that resembled a spaceship. As a record played, my hand brushed against the vinyl, and a surge of curiosity engulfed me. How does all this work? It became the question I incessantly repeated, propelling me from merely mixing others' music to delving into music production and eventually creating my own sounds and songs that made onto radios and into clubs around the world. It was all driven by an insatiable passion for understanding how things work.

Now, you might be wondering, what does DJing have to do with picking up a camera? Well, as you'll soon discover, the DJing chapter was merely the seed. The real game-changer was yoga. Yes, yoga. In 2016, I embarked on my first trip to India, a venture unlike anything I'd done before. Prior to this, the most exotic places I got to experience were Canada during high school and then Cancun for college Spring Break. Matured by the life changing experiences in India and, perhaps, a clearer mind from all the yoga, I realized there was so much more to see. The following year, edging closer to the camera part, I found myself in Bali, Indonesia, for more yoga. Fueled by a newfound adventurous spirit, I had bookmarked places I'd seen online, particularly those picturesque lush jungle greens that beckoned to me. However, when I got there and began snapping photos with my iPhone 7, the reality didn't align with what I had envisioned. Cue the burning need to understand why. In between yoga session, I began to experiment with photo editing. Upon returning home, the revelation hit me – those mesmerizing photos were captured with professional cameras and edited using sophisticated software. Naturally, I needed to grasp the intricacies of those tools. Thus, yoga and my curiosity about the mind and body, as our breath moves through us, became the catalyst propelling me into the world to discover a passion tailored just for me.

I purchased my first camera, sparking a collection of new and vintage cameras that continues to grow. I revisited India and Bali, made pit stops in Japan, and embarked on a nearly two-year-long side quest in Hawaii, but the details of that adventure are reserved for another time.

This enduring passion for discovery, kindled since my teenage years, seamlessly led me to a fulfilling career in video production. Now, my continuous question isn't just about the technicalities of how things work, but extends to a communicative level when engaging in discussions about a client's business ideas. It's like transitioning from spinning records to spinning corporate strategies – who would have thought?

As these narratives unfold, offering glimpses into the roots of my journey, these future writings aim to be a bridge for you to get to know me better. Starting near the beginning seemed like a good idea. Got a question for me or curious about the process? Shoot me a message. Let's keep the conversation going.
